Seacat Services Receives 2 New Workboats

Seacat Services has taken delivery of two new vessels that are now in service on a contract to serve the Anholt Offshore Windfarm in Denmark.

The vessels, ‘Seacat Endeavour’ and ‘Seacat Reliance’ were built for the firm by Isle of Wight based South Boats, the leading aluminum wind farm catamaran building specialist.

With the UK racing to reach an offshore wind target of 18GW by 2020, most of which will be built under the ‘Round 3’ Crown Estate tender, there is a rapid need for crew transfer and service vessels to support this phase of growth.

In Europe, the picture is somewhat similar as Germany and Denmark also look to reach targets for offshore wind energy development.

Both the Seacat Services boats have the capability to be deployed to any UK or European offshore wind energy development, as they carry certification from marine classification body DNV.

With offshore turbine crews requiring the capability to be deployed in rough conditions, the boats are powered by two 1200 horsepower diesel engines that allow a cruising speed of 24knots, even with full fuel tanks, 15 tonnes of deck cargo and 12 passengers.

Naturally, we’re thrilled to have the boats in the water and clocking up the hours, and we’ll report back with how they’re getting on in due course.
